Sepsis Registry
Direct Difference constantly monitors groups like the Surviving Sepsis Campaign to bring together specific care data components for abstraction. Used together, the sepsis components have a stronger impact on patient recovery data.
Simplifying the Process
The Surviving Sepsis Campaign draws together ‘best practices’ customization of every provider sepsis protocol. Customization must satisfy the registry standards and demonstrate caregiver’s ability to reach and sustain 25% mortality reduction as specified by the campaign.
According to the Surviving Sepsis Campaign website, the registry tracks two treatment groupings:
3-Hour Completion Group
- Measure lactate level
- Obtain blood cultures prior to administration of antibiotics
- Administer broad spectrum antibiotics
- Administer 30 ml/kg crystalloid for hypotension or lactate ≥4mmol/L
6-Hour Completion Group
- Apply vasopressors to maintain a mean arterial pressure (MAP) ≥65 mm in the event of persistent arterial hypotension despite volume resuscitation (septic shock) or initial lactate ≥4 mmol/L (36 mg/dL)
- Determine central venous pressure (CVP)
- Determine central venous oxygen saturation (ScvO2)
- Re-calculate lactate if initial lactate was elevated
Simplifying the Process
Direct Difference keeps up with developments in this and other registries. As we broaden our abstraction process, we increase our ability to serve you and your healthcare organization with the highest abstraction accuracy possible.
